About Venables Theatre

Venables Theatre is a modern, fully-equipped community theatre available for rental and presenting a wide range of performing arts activities from dance and music, to theatre, children's events and community activities. With its spacious lobby and ample stage, the theatre boasts sophisticated lighting and audio systems. We are proud to welcome groups from within the Okanagan and from around the globe. Venables Theatre opened its doors in February 2014, replacing the historic, much-loved and lamented Venables Auditorium which was destroyed by fire, along with the adjacent secondary school, in 2011. Both structures were under renovation at the time.

A phenomenal performing arts centre in the heart of the South Okanagan, Venables Theatre is a mid-sized community theatre owned by School District # 53 and leased to the Regional District of the Okanagan Similkameen through a joint use agreement. The theatre, which is adjacent to the Southern Okanagan Secondary School, is operated by the non-profit Oliver Community Theatre Society.
