Venables Alive! Local Artist Series

About the Performance
Two beloved Okanagan singer-songwriter, one captivating evening of soulful, heartfelt music.
Though each has cultivated a celebrated solo career, Kailee Duggan and Kansas-lee discover something special when they share the stage. Blending their original songs into beautiful, intimate arrangements, their performances weave together soulful vocals, intricate guitar work, rich harmonies, and the kind of honest storytelling that stays with you long after the last note fades.
Their musical connection began at the famous Dream Café in Penticton, where a handful of shared performances revealed a natural chemistry and a shared love of songs that speak straight to the heart. Since then, they’ve continued to bring their music together at festivals and on stages throughout the Okanagan, including Tiny Lights Festival, and opening performances for Steven Page of The Barenaked Ladies and The Grapes of Wrath. With DL Ranney of Nightshades on drums and the soulful accompaniment of D’arcy Booth on bass, their collaborative sound takes on new depth, creating an unforgettable experience.
Kansas-lee is a soulful folk songwriter known for her powerful, captivating voice, rhythmic guitar playing, and beautifully potent lyrics. With echoes of Joni Mitchell, and Eva Cassidy, her music carries listeners into a world of warmth, vulnerability, and quiet intensity. Having performed across Canada, California, England, and Spain, she continues to evolve as an artist, most recently with her first studio album Ostara, following three self-produced albums.
Kailee Duggan brings a smooth, soulful folk-pop sensibility shaped by a lifetime of songwriting, having first picked up a guitar at just eight years old. Her 2025 debut album, Train of Thought, explores the complexities of growing, letting go, and finding your way back to yourself. With music featured on CBC Radio One and CKUA, and performances alongside acclaimed Canadian artists including Dan Mangan and Jill Barber, Kailee has earned a reputation for her warm, engaging presence and authentic songwriting, akin to Norah Jones.
Together, Kailee Duggan and Kansas-lee offer more than a meeting of two musical careers. Their songs find new life in one another’s voices, creating moments of unexpected beauty, shared vulnerability, and effortless connection.
This winter, join them for a special evening at Venables Theatre—a chance to experience two remarkable songwriters, their original music, and the unmistakable magic that happens when they make music together in the perfect setting.
